Ah the Lenovo ThinkPad W530, the 15″ ThinkPad that some people hate because of the chicklet keyboard, you are able to install the old keyboard using a mod…
This is probably the last ‘good’ W-Series ThinkPad, this was before the haslel touchpad.
Lets check out the specs of this machine.
Lenovo for some odd reason includes the T530/i in it too, so some of those low specs are probably not available on the W530.
Dual core i5 and i7 models have only two RAM slots, quadcore i7 have 4 RAM slots in the motherboard. This only works if the unit was originally set like this from the factory, that 4 slot mobo is expensive.
Hard Drive Options:
- 320GB, 5400 rpm
- 500GB, 5400 rpm
- 1TB, 5400 rpm
- 320GB, 7200 rpm
- 500GB, 7200 rpm
Solid State Options:
- 16GB mSATA
- 32GB mSATA
- 128GB 7mm SSD
- 180GB 7mm SSD
- 240GB 7mm SSD
- 256GB 7mm SSD
Some of those might be from the T530, but I do know you may get a 5400RPM unit.
mSATA was still in its infacy, I think it was introduced from the T510, these 32GB units are probably some sort of cache hybrid with a HDD…
15.6″ Screen Options:
- HD+ 900 x 1600
- FHD 1920 x 1080p
- No 2K, 4K mods…
W530 – $230 – 435 // 840 ~ 156 v 310
W530 – $300 – 620 // 800 ~ 82 – 231 – Outdated post long time ago
So it looks like there are more in the market, the price went down but kinda went higher…
7 Risky – $120 – 280 // 320 or 350
54 HDD – $280 – 400 // 700
80 SSD – $300 – 430 // 1020
99 S-Furb – $315 – 390 // 680
32 M-Furb – $470 – 665 // 940 (some questionable ‘manufacturer refurbished’)
New/other – $680 – 900 // 1200 (very questionable, more like mint condition refurbs)
NEW – NONE! 🙁
Ok most of these are not ‘new or manufacturer refurbished’ kinda disappointing but this laptop I guess all got bought out! Also initially I had gotten 310 results but then it went down to 190… I put 350 in risky in face of an XM cpu.
93 AUC – $220 – 350 // 700
136 BIN – $280 – 450 // 1000
i5 – None! 🙂
80 i7 QM – $300 – 420 // 700
40 i7 XM – $570 – 730 // 1020
16GB – $330 – 420 // 690
32GB – $400 – 545 // 990
Have fun getting an XM CPU. I was surprised that the price difference for 32GB models wasn’t much in the low end.
60 Keys – $19 – 30 // 62 (backlit and non-backlit)
8 FHD LCD $40 – 52 // 80
9 Mobo – $50 – 90 // 220
31 Battery – $32 – 45 // 70+
60 Charger – $15 – 25 // 50
The most expensive keyboard was a backlit Croatia model <3
And it looks about to be it. Very surprised that this model goes up high… but this is the first out of many, I am sure the 8770W and M6700 will be more pricey thanks to its IPS 1080p 17″ displays.
Lets see!
