The IBM PS/55 5535-M is a series of laptops in the Multistation Family. That was basically Japan’s IBM PS/2 PC, but it required better graphics & screen resolution due to japanese (and east asian) characters.
The 5535-M is more of a clamshel machine than a laptop, as it is fairly bulky, like a luggable. As you know, the 5550 got compact and became the PS/55, so this is a forefather to those machines, which was precursor to the ThinkPad (which itself was a clone of a PS/55).

Saucey’s Thoughts
Best of luck finding info on 5535-M machines, PS/55 got imported a bit, especially the notebooks. These? Japan auctions only, and you’ll need to know PS/55 or DOS/V software, along w/ the language translation.
