V1 12/2018 Think Price Guide

This is an archive of the price guide when I first published in December whatever 2018. The Version 2 is under work or might be up. I have this here for archiving purposes or incase the ‘new’ page breaks. I will be changing the style so on V3 we will evolve back to this or maybe try something newer.

Hello. Prices of ThinkPads will be updated every four months: December, April, & August. This page will have the megalist of ThinkPads posted as well a modern/popular ThinkPad image, possibly others. I search prices of ThinkPads during a certain time frame when they were manufactured, & put them on a spreadsheet, then to a dedicated post. This takes a few days to a few weeks.

All prices here are in USD, sourced from eBay sold listings, prices are based from USA & shipping cost included. Shipping costs usually range from $15 to $50 depending on your location, seller’s location, weight, size of box & shipping carrier. I did come across some international listings when researching and did count them in as well. About 30% of all ThinkPads I searched, had an international price, usually the higher & newer ones. If you’re international, the price difference looks to be about from 10% to 40% higher than from USA. Last but not least, local listings & other websites can have a wide difference in pricing, and in some cases can be a lot cheaper.

Lastly, this is not a buyers guide, just a price guide. As much as I wanted to call it a buyers guide, others have commented that I didn’t put enough (or any) information to make it a buying guide. Each iteration of laptops have upgrades, differences in build, which in turn has a varying degree of quality control & dependability. Having over 150 laptops here covered, I will not be able to write every little detail, distro compatibility, & mod information about these laptops at this time, or ever & somehow have it like a less jumbled mess as it sort of is…

Why isn’t this updated sooner? Currently eBay saves sold listings for the past 90 days, so if I researched sooner, I’d probably get the same listings. This can be an excuse for me being lazy. (;

The guide is based off of google sheets, with the tables posted directly from the spreadsheet for me to save time, saved as a PDF and then as a PNG. Feel free sharing it with others. The guide is based off the original template that KTGEE had done years back, which I’ve used when I bought my first X61 Tablet. Thank you !KTGee/bglo wherever you are. <3
